Snowline™

Our Snowline™ branded maternal sheep have been production recorded since 1969 – 50 years. Also micron recorded since 2010 – 9 years and have achieved huge micron reduction by total population genetic selection, and not by crossing with merinos or half breds.

Ranger™

Our Ranger branded terminal sheep were first recorded on “Cone Peak Station” on the Remarkables at Queenstown for 5 years to establish true survival traits.  The Ranger flock was built up to 2100 ewes and then selected down to present dry 700 based on growth rates, yield and survival.

About Us

Our family have been involved in farming since 1876, and over that time we have owned 17 farms and stations. There are many facets to being a successful farm and station. Some of the aspects that we focus on as part of our enterprise are:

  • We specialize on breeding high performance sheep and cattle to run on our 2 high country stations.
  • We are leaders in the use of the latest DNA technology available for improving the production and genetics of our sheep and cattle.
  • We care deeply about the environment and are extremely proud to be a part of the New Zealand Government’s Carbon Sink Strategy which is a 50 year commitment by us.
  • We are now using the latest “Genomic” DNA technology, which will enable us to identify genetically superior animals at an early age.
  • We have developed two of our own trademarked breeds of sheep – the Snowline™ and The Ranger™. From these two trademarked breeds we produce elite rams – for our own use and to sell to our expanding clientele.
  • We have secured the trademarks for both Snowline™ and Ranger™ meat and wool.
  • Our Snowline™ breeding programme is now well advanced for our ram clients to successfully produce 26-27 micron Snowline™ wool. In the future for our Snowline™ trademarked clothing, scarves, hats and shoes.
