Snowline Maternal™

You deserve a better Wool income so lets get started

This year Snowline are moving into full genomics with approximately 500 ewes. All sires will be done for 50K genomics and 20% of the ram hoggets will be done with 5k genomics. This is the most modern, up to date genetic tool available which will enable us to identify the superior lambs and cull progeny at a very early age. This whole process is being controlled by Zoetis. This will guarantee we are using the most up to date technology to drive clients production even higher.

Further Micron Reduction

The tools we are using to achieve our clients goals of high value wool are:

  • Microning 1800 ewe hoggets
  • Microning 800 ram hoggets
  • Remicroning all adult sires annually

With the above and 23-27 micron ram hoggets and sires we are moving the bell curve of micron reduction much faster, which enables us to achieve the finer edge for our clients

All of the above is only achieveable with a large ram breeding flock. This lambing we are selecting our rams and ewe hogget replacements from our elite 2400 ewes and 1800 ewe hoggets.  As well as screening from another 2500 commercial sheep.  This is the key to yours and our success.

These photos show how thick and even the Snowline™ wool is. Sale rams are all 26mc to 30mc. Also showing the loin, myomax back ends and fine shoulders. These Snowliners™ are high in fertility and growth rates and lambed unshepherded on hill country.

Information

Dr David Scobie of AG Research headed a breeding programme to search the attributes of bare breach sheep. His findings were that bare breaches will lead to less dags and about 75% less flystrike. Independent estimates from Lincoln University put the savings at $7 per ewe per year. After working with many breeds and breeders across the country we now know that lambs with bare breaches have a higher weaning weight and ewes will subsequently have the greater fertility.
